Opera in the Orchard

We thought you might be interested in what has happened and what is planned for the future. First, we have had three very successful years producing " La Serva Padrona", "Il Telefono" and "The Tragedy of Carmen" all three were produced by Syrinx Opera and "Don Pasquale" performed by
First Act Opera.

Due to demand Opera in the Orchard has put on winter concerts;

The Hayes, Stone, Staffs.
An evening of " Arias and Buffet by Candle light" during February 2005, was a delightful evening's entertainment. The programme consisted of an operatic selection for Soprano and Tenor voices.

High Barn, Great Bardfield, Essex
An evening with "Noel Coward au Cafe de Paris", performed by Colin and Gulliver. An evening
hugely enjoyed by the audience.

November 23rd 2005 - Hand made Opera

Opera in the Orchard is proud to announce that in future musical production will be in collaboration with "Hand made Opera". This company has very wide national and international experience and we look forward to their presentation. Additionally the production of The Barber of Seville will aim to use not only highly qualified professional musicians but also students from the Plume School, Maldon and other local schools. This is fully in line with our ambition to spread enjoyment of opera as widely as possible.

We would like to express here our thanks to Syrinx Opera who ran the music for the first two years. Opera in the Orchard owes its inspiration and starting impulse to the keenness and knowledge of Steve Rumsey. We are very grateful to him for all the effort he put in. We would also like to express our appreciation to Mark Valencia who undertook all the hard work of producing our operas in our first two years.

Last years performance was a success both financially and in terms of enjoyment, expressed in numerous letters we have received. We are donating £500 to our chosen charity, Little Braxted Church. In addition, The Campaign for the Protection of Rural Essex was able to run a raffle, which was a financial success thanks to the generosity of the audience at the opera. Please let other people know about Opera in the Orchard. You can do this either by direct contact and conversation or by sending them a copy of the newsletter or, best of all, by giving us their name and contact details.

For those of you who are interested there is a list of rules and objectives for you to see.
