WEA Course:’ The Rise of Scientific Europe’. Friends Meeting House, Butt Lane.
7.45pm. A 10 week course looking at why science – experimental practice and
theoretical reasoning – arose in Europe and not in China and the Middle East.

Plough Monday. 7.30pm. Annual tradition where a plough is paraded through
the town accompanied by Molly dancers with black faces and hobble-de-hoy peasant
costumes. The tradition is a reminder that if the agricultural workers starved
in the winter, there would be nothing to eat in the summer. The plough is
blessed in All Saints’ Church at 6.30pm on Sunday 10th January. The procession
starts on the Hythe Quay, working its’ way up the High Street to the Warwick
Arms, then to the Blue Boar arriving at approx 9pm. Enjoy the specially brewed

North Blackwater Neighbourhood Action Panel Meeting. Great Totham Village
Hall. 7pm. An opportunity for members of the public to discuss items of concern
in their neighbourhood. Local councillors, police and school representatives
discuss the issues raised and select three priorities for action. Covering
the villages of Goldhanger, Great Braxted, Great and Little Totham, Tollesbury,
